Describe your album

New

"Live in Ireland"

a live set I played in 2007

best downtempo track

"acidphon"

ambient/downtempo

but really Phon is about experimental beats and arrangements }:-]|

"Clatterbang" & "bSides"

techno/electronica/idm Earliest work and probably most "finished"

(track one of bSides is poorly produced)

"contains traces of nuts"

my current favourite work - though rough around the edges

"remixes the beatles"

a recent attempt with some interesting ideas

"peaceful sinerave"

a recent ambient attempt - not up to standard with the old work

The best stuff is my early stuff "clatterbang" and "acidphon"

enjoy

Look, if you're going to say you're remixing anything, you should probably remix it.

Making a few electronic songs, naming them after songs made by the beatles, and calling it a remix is nothing short of a scam using their name to boost your plays.

I'm not sure if it's meant to be a joke or something, but there is absolutely no trace of the beatles here. I know they're supposed to be remixes, but they've been remixed into entirely different songs which don't resemble the songs they're meant to at all.

That said, it's not half bad. You certainly are talented, and have created some good tunes. They're just not what it says on the tin.

Glitchy unpredictable percussion draws the focus away from the minimalistic melodic elements. My favourite album by phon so far.

These remixes are amazing. I love the way the artist treated these legendary compositions. Everyone tries to play the Beatles "with respect" and the covers are inferior. But Phon does not have any complexes, he approached these masterpieces with an empty --- err, I mean open --- mind and he won!

I love so many ideas on this album. On "Yesterday" I love heavy guitars and growling in choruses - very surprising in a song that was once a ballad. Use of a symphonic orchestra in "Day in a life" may seem a bit strange firstly, but as the track unfolds, you begin to comprehend and appreciate the idea that Phon asked musicians to swap their instruments for this one session. On "Come together" mixing John's & Paul's voices with Britney Spears' "Ooops I did it again" was just another master's move. You feel this tune should have always sounded this way! Yodelling on "Helter Skelter" fits perfectly the awkward German language version of lyrics, autotranslated with Babelfish. The choir of drunken Afghan talibs is a great counterpoint to Lennon's piano played on fast forward on "Eleanor Rigby". I also like their funny English accents and how they replaced "Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door" with "Waits at the window, keeping the head of George W. in a jar by the door". I could go on like this for an hour, there are so many fresh concepts here, giving the listener fresh look on these thousand-times heard songs.

One thing I didn't like is replacing the original vocal line with an opera-singing on "Yellow Submarine". But maybe that's because I don't like opera.

So, to summarize: Everybody! Please welcome Phon, the remixing master!

And I'm waiting for the followup album: "Phon the Rolling Stone" with his versions of Satisfaction, Angie and so on... Maybe with a guest appearance by Kokkaljos? I'm asking for too much, I know...

What the fuck is that?!?!?

I think we should get married.

Remix? A Beatles party. There's a lot of material left to mine in the Beatles library. It's a rich vein, and Phon has struck the motherlode. Thanks for a unique experience.

Which 'Beatles' are you talking about in the album description? Paul McCartney one or the insect one?
I was surprised to see the music very different. Pretty much 'phon' like. But! Its great! Its like 'phon revolution'. You have really improved since your last album 'bsides'.

Some nice and varied tunes, really enjoying and fresh music.

Keep it up!

I give you ten, not especially because i like your music (althought it's interesting), but for the concept. It reminds me this painting of Magritte, you know the one with the pipe, called "ceci n'est pas une pipe".
I give you ten because, with your music, you're opening a way to a new listening, I mean what you tell is (this is my understanding)- Are you able to be free, to open you ears to something new, to be a child and to welcome the life....
That's what i like :-)
Thank you.
