Describe your album

Nobody could accuse Josh Woodward of being a lazy songwriter. After releasing two CDs at once in August 2007, he announced a hiatus from live performing and headed straight back in to the studio to start working on more music. The result of intensive songwriting sessions over six months, "The Simple Life" is really two full-length CDs in one. Part one (tracks 1-11) is based in a lighter pop-rock style, with catchy tunes featuring electic instrumentation not always typical to the genre. Part two (tracks 12-22) is a return to his roots, filled with lyrical acoustic music in his distinctive style.

In a world that seems to be constantly focusing on the easiest and fastest ways to make $$$ it seems that Josh Woodward is trying to start a revolution.

This album is Amazing!

Not because of the lyrical poetry that somehow maintains its purity in the face of the ever present danger of pretentiousness that in many other cases can easily envelope even the most aware of artist,

Nor for his intoxicatingly simple, yet, complex rhythms and musical compositions.

But singly for the message that is incipient in this album from start to finish.

Josh Woodward wants to change the world. However in attempting this he maintains a certain aloofness from the subject matter in a way that allows his own interpretation of his goal to show through - That of its seemingly utter impossibility.

This tongue and cheek approach shows that Woodward is not a naive personality who believes that current world perspective can 180 instantly. However he has still created a library of thoughtful songs that are designed not only to entertain, but also to inspire his audience to greater heights.

Listen to this album as much as you can, and then give some money to this guy, because he has already given us something that will someday soon have a significant positive impact on our social system.

I can't believe this is a free album - This album is just as good if not better than 99% of the commercial releases over the past five years.

It's always a pleasure to listen to Woodward's albums. For me it seldom happens that I like to listen to an album from the beginning to the end. This is the case.
A refreshing album, really agreable, never boring, perfect on my mobile phone (where I put only those albums that I like to listen everywhere, everytime).
I don't have yet a favourite track but this means that I really enjoy _all_ tracks!
Thank you for this great work.

Great song writing, nice production. Has anyone ever said you sound a bit like Ben Folds?

I think the composition of the music and the lyrics are all very well done, but Josh's voice sometimes gets strained and produces somewhat of an unpleasant sound.

I'd say my two favourite songs from this album are Morning Blue and On Brevity.

Thanks for the free music, Josh!

This is not just amazing for a Creative Commons album. This is some really great music! I love all of it! Thank you for sharing all your songs. I've downloaded Not Quite Connected as well, and have listened to a few songs. It's great so far. Keep up the good work!

You know the one thing I adore about Josh Woodward's songs is his ability to arrange acatchy melody into something a little extra. In the case of this album, the extra comes in the form of three standout tracks that should be worldwide hits. Yes, they are that good.

I'm Letting Go is such an emotional, killer track. I love this song.

Flutter By is lyrical genuis coupled with controlled, raw emotion. Beautiful song and delivery.

Don't Close Your Eyes is another gorgeous song lyrically and emotionally. Fine, fine build up. Bravo, Josh! Keep on producing class.

Excellent album.

A candid artwork with notable accoustics, solidly interpreted by Josh, The Simple Life is a succulent album that has everything to become a durable internet classic. A hand-held fan of rythms blowing subtle emotional dynamics that doesn't sit on the basics to demand your attention.
